Chief Executive Officer
Dr Jennie Gray has led Women’s Legal Service WA as Chief Executive Officer since 2021, bringing with her a career spanning practice, management, research, and policy across the community sector.
Her experience is broad and deeply grounded u2014 including many years designing and delivering services in regional and remote Western Australia, and serving as Deputy CEO of the WA Council of Social Service. She understands, from the ground up, what it takes to build services that genuinely reach the women who need them most.
Jennie is driven by a conviction that a more just, fair, and equitable society is possible u2014 and that getting there requires addressing the realities of poverty and gender inequality head-on. She shares Womenu2019s Legal Service WA’s deep commitment to women’s empowerment, and to a legal system that works for every woman, not just those who can afford it.
Principal Legal Officer
Stephanie has served as Womenu2019s Legal Service WA’s Principal Legal Officer since May 2021, overseeing the organisation’s legal practice with expertise drawn from a career spanning government and non-government agencies, tertiary institutions, and diverse areas of law.
Stephanie is a Kungarakan/Warramungu woman and a recognised Traditional Owner of the Finniss River and Little Wagait Land Trust in the Northern Territory. This connection to Country and community is not separate from her professional work u2014 it is central to it.
At Womenu2019s Legal Service WA, Stephanie is deeply committed to ensuring that legal assistance is genuinely accessible to Aboriginal women, and that every woman who comes through our doors experiences a service that is culturally secure, respectful, and designed with her needs in mind.
Women’s Legal Service WA is governed by a Board of Directors comprising members with a strong mix of technical skills and industry experience.
Our Board undergoes a rigorous recruitment process guided by a skills matrix to ensure the right people are in place to guide the organisation.
Board members participate in regular professional development and governance training, maintaining the high standards of oversight and strategic leadership that WLSWA’s work demands.
